How will we be wearing our nails in 2025? The experts are predicting bolder nail art, as well as an injection of texture and clever finishes – think dreamy milk bath tones and magnetic cat eye finishes, shiny iridescent textures and smoky quartz tips. Next year’s nails are all about tapping into your inner artist. Below, the nine nail trends the experts say will be everywhere for 2025.

While nail shape is really down to personal preference, there are some that you’re going to see everywhere next year. Celebrity nail artist Gina Edwards predicts that the hottest shape of them all will be oval. Usually long and tapered, the shape lends itself nicely to even the most imaginative designs.

Pointed almonds

Almond is the second shape Edwards is tipping to be big in 2025. Just like the nut it’s named for, this nail gradually gets slimmer as you reach the tip. Experts call it one of the most flattering choices.

Blush layers

It’s all about layering your favourite colours next year, says Edwards, who especially loves mixing blush shades with bare neutrals for a look that goes with anything.

“It’ll be less about crazy design and more about textures and effects,” says Tom Bachik, celebrity nail artist and Tweezerman pro artist, when asked about 2025 nail trends. “[They] are so popular because you can stick with the colours you love and know are flattering, but completely change it up with exciting effects.” Shimmers and sparkles work well, but we especially love an iridescent chrome texture.

Soap nails

Soap nails were a key nail trend during 2024, and Bachik says their reign will continue next year. “It’s the cleanest, freshest manicure – it looks like it’s straight out of a spa day,” he says.

Milky tones

Milk bath nails are dreamy and ethereal, and they will be very popular next year. You can mix any shade to get the perfect milky tone, but Edwards is especially fond of soft lavenders and pinks. If “quiet luxury” is still very much your vibe, she says this is the perfect nail for you.

Smoky quartz

Edwards created a smoky quartz effect at Prabal Gurung’s spring/summer 2025 show. Shiny yet chic, they put a fun spin on a neutral shade. She used the Kiss Bare But Better TruNude Fake Nails in Nude Drama as a base, before applying a white polish on top to create a sheer finish. She then swished the shade back and forth in an “S” motion, to achieve a smoky quartz finish.

Magnetic chrome

A chrome nail always looks cool. For 2025, Edwards says you’ll see many play with this look using different – and even more mesmerising – effects.

Big & bold French

We’ll never get tired of a classic French tip, but for 2025, both Edwards and Bachik say it’s all about going all out with colour and design. “French manicures will continue to be popular, but with their own 2025 twists,” says Bachik. “For example, you might include a line of bright colour to accent the outside edge of the nail rather than just the tip.” Edwards adds: “French nails have pulled away from the traditional white tip and ventured into vibrant colours, 3D textures, and more.”
