Martha Stewart Reveals Her Breakfast – And It’s Perfect

Breakfast seems to be a topic that is always up for debate. For some, it’s a skippable pre-work chore. But to others, like myself, it’s the most important meal of the day, setting the tone for how the rest of the day (and its meals) will evolve. It appears that the multi-hyphenate and eternal muse Martha Stewart is also in the latter camp.

“I generally have a green juice made from vegetables in my garden and add a packet of collagen to that,” Stewart shared with Air Mail earlier this month. “I have one cappuccino made with my San Marco machine. I sometimes have a few tablespoons of wheat germ in skim milk, or today I had half a piece of delicious, locally made sourdough-whole-wheat toast with an avocado.”

I recently got my first juicer, and fear that I, too, have become an unlikely green juice girl. (I say unlikely because I worked at Goop for a handful of years and was never once persuaded to even try a sip of the stuff during that time.) And while I’m yet to try my celery-ginger-apple spiked with a packet of collagen – benefits of ingesting collagen include plumper skin and healthier joints – I have been adding a teaspoon of chia seeds into the mix right before I start chugging to up my fibre and omegas every day, on the advice of my nutritionist.

“Collagen is a protein found in the body that plays a crucial role in various tissues, including skin, bones, muscles, tendons, and ligaments,” board-certified celebrity dermatologist Dr Ava Shamban previously told Vogue. “We need it because as we age, our body’s natural collagen production decreases, leading to various signs of ageing and reduced structural support in tissues.”
