For their moment of #couplegoals intimacy (surrounded by global A-listers and the world’s press), Wonka star and Golden Globes 2024 nominee Chalamet opted for midnight-hued sparkling Celine tailoring, while Jenner flexed her longtime vintage credentials, sporting a plunging naked lace dress from 1998, designed by Japanese designer Hanae Mori. Mori, who died at the age of 96 in 2022, is seen as one of the first progenitors of Japanese fashion in Europe, preceding Kenzo, Kansai Yamamoto, and Issey Miyake. She was the first Asian designer invited to be part of the chambre syndicale de la couture in Paris. Jenner sourced the rare gown from Timeless Vixen in Beverly Hills, which also counts Margot Robbie, Kate Moss and Harris Reed as clients.

“This particular haute couture gown has been in my collection for about 10 years, and I knew this was the perfect moment for it to be in the spotlight again,” says Lauren Lepire, owner of Timeless Vixen. “It’s sexy without being too risqué, extremely elegant, and a true wearable work of art. It was just perfect for an award show.”

If the timeless elegance of Old Hollywood glamour was the prevailing trend of the night (see Jennifer Aniston in scallop-beaded black Dolce & Gabbana, Lily Gladstone in a tulle Valentino opera coat and Carey Mulligan in elegant hourglass Schiaparelli), then the twinkling floral embellishments and Delphic draping of Jenner’s gown truly nailed the brief. On the red carpet, Kylie also has a penchant for vintage Thierry Mugler, but in Timeless Vixen’s collection, Lepire calls out a one-of-a-kind Bob Mackie fully beaded cut-out gown she’d love to see Jenner dressed in, worn by Rachael Welch in 1975 when she sang a duet with Cher. With numerous awards ceremonies on the horizon, we’re on tenterhooks regarding which second-life showstoppers she’ll pull out to steal even more of the A-list lovers’ limelight.
