There’s nothing quite like a new hairstyle to rejuvenate your look and help you kick off a new chapter. Happily, the hair trends that experts say will dominate in 2025 are elevated classics that will suit most of us.
Face-framing layers, the ’90s supermodel blowout, and bobs (so many bobs) will storm social media feeds, but you’ll also want to keep an eye out for more romantic and whimsical hair looks, like Shirley Temple-esque curls and ethereal waves, to switch things up a bit.
Below, 11 hair trends that the experts predict will be big in 2025.
Ultra-short bobs
Bobs have obviously been big in 2024, but for next year, people will be leaning on even shorter iterations. “We used to [cut] just grazing the shoulder,” says celebrity hairstylist Jacob Rozenberg. “But I have definitely seen people going bolder in the length department.” He points to his most recent cut for Lily Collins: her bob hits right at the chin, for that elusive cool French-girl look that’s just so chic.
Side partings
Millennials rejoice: all experts say that side partings will be making a comeback. “I’m so excited that side partings and side-swept bangs are making a comeback,” says celebrity hairstylist Lacy Redway. “But I also think a flip-over – versus an actual parting – will be something we will see a lot of as well, especially with curly and textured styles.” For added playfulness, Rozenberg says he sees many clients pairing a bombshell blowout with a side parting.
Fairy waves
Ultra-long hair is striking as it is, but for 2025, Jenny Cho, celebrity hairstylist and Fekkai Five member, recommends adding fairy-like waves for even more romance and whimsy. Cho points to Havana Rose Liu’s ethereal waves, which cascade all the way down to her waist.
Jane Birkin bangs
The fringe has had a revival in recent years – who hasn’t been tempted by a set of curtain bangs? In 2025, it‘s all about channelling Jane Birkin’s cool-girl fringe, which is perfectly exemplified by Daisy Edgar-Jones, who wears hers layered and parted in the centre. Pro-tip: Cho likes to use a texture spray, like the Fekkai Full Blown Volume Spray, to create separation and give hair a gritty, lived-in texture.
The ’90s blowout
Both Rozenberg and Redway reference the quintessential ’90s supermodel blowouts made famous by Cindy Crawford and Christy Turlington as a style that many will turn to in 2025. You can’t go wrong with hair that radiates glamour.
Rounded bob
A simple way to elevate a blunt cut is to give it soft, rounded edges, says Redway. It couldn’t be easier to style, either. Redway recommends using a pair of straighteners to give ends a soft bend. Just finish with hairspray, and you’re good to go.
Braids
Whether you opt for micro-braids or twists, Redway predicts you’ll be seeing even more braided styles than usual grace your timeline.
Face-framing layers
An evergreen classic that works for all hair types, both Cho and Rozenberg love face-framing layers for 2025. When in doubt, layer it out.
Graduated bobs
Cho describes “graduated bobs” as face-framing cuts that are shorter at the back and gradually lengthen as you reach the front. She recommends a style like Kasia Smutniak’s layered cut, which is enhanced by long bangs that graze her brows.
Perfect curls
Prim, proper and pristine, Rozenberg has seen an uptick in Shirley Temple curls on the red carpet. “Think of it as a tendril, but in a curl,” he says. They’re perfectly coiffed with a sleek, smooth finish, and ideal for any event where you need to dress up.
Brushed-out waves
If you’re looking for something less polished, Rozenberg loves a brushed-out wave. Effortless but with plenty of volume, see Jennifer Lopez for a great example.
